What Does the Cloud Mean?
The title of this article could really be interpreted in two ways. The first is quite simply – what does this term ‘the cloud’ actually mean? It’s a buzz word we hear a lot about, and it’s one that we may not have questioned.
Meanwhile, if you already know the answer to this previous question, then you might be wandering quite simple – what does the cloud mean. In other words what does this mean for the progression of technology? And for existing online businesses? Here we will answer both those questions.
What Does the Cloud Mean?
Essentially ‘the cloud’ refers to an abstract collective storage space that exists online. If something is on the cloud, then this means that it is a file with no physical location. Casually we might then simply use the cloud to refer to anything that isn’t on our computer – such as the internet – which instead exists on lots of servers around the world. If you were going to back up your data using online backup services, then this data would be stored on one, or on several servers. Again then you might say you’ve uploaded the files to ‘the cloud’.
More specifically the cloud tends to refer to those files that don’t have any set location – even among servers. These then are files not stored on a single server, but several mirrors. ‘Cloud hosting’ for instance would mean that your website existed on many servers at once, allowing for them to share the bandwidth, and meaning the site will rarely completely go ‘down’ as there will always be at least one server still working.
What Does This Mean?
The reason the cloud is being talked about more and more is because the technology to support this kind of technology is improving. The internet could be seen as existing on the cloud, and that’s always been around, but this is still just a group of pages that load up on the computer.
Cloud computing basically means ‘outsourcing’ computing power, storage and more. And because the speed of internet connections is always increasing, this is more and more possible meaning that less and less actually has to run on your computer at all.
A simple example is Apple’s iCloud – which allows you to upload your files onto their servers and then stream music, videos and pictures from there. This basically means that you don’t need to save anything on the devices themselves – meaning in turn that you don’t use up harddrive space. As this becomes more and more common we might eventually see computers fall dramatically in price, and dramatically in weight and size. They won’t need hard drives you see, because they will be ‘always connected’ and they will stream everything from the cloud.
And when internet connections speed up even more, and servers become more powerful, those devices might not even need to have powerful processors. The reason being that they will be able to outsource that too – and play games and run software directly from the web as ‘web apps’ thus doing away with any need for downloading. Imagine an ‘app store’ where every app can be accessed immediately – where you pay per use rather than for ‘ownership’ of that software. It literally could change everything, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Important Things to Remember When Designing a Website
Planning is very much needed when designing a website as big part of the success of your business will rely much on it. Websites need to have a design that can attract people and potential customers. It also has to have all the important details about your business, particularly about the products or services you’re offering. In order for this to be become a realization, you need to get the services of a very able web design company, a company whose aim is to make websites as well as the businesses of their clients stand out among the rest of their competitors.
When in the process of setting up and designing your website, here are a number of things that you have to keep in mind:
1. Color. If your business has a business logo, it is recommended that your use the colors that are incorporated in it. But if you don’t, you should pick out 2 to 3 colors that look professional. Avoid using different color schemes from web page to web page. If you still haven’t decided on what colors to use, you can use readily available templates for the meantime. You can find a lot of websites that offer templates either for free or at a certain price.
Customize Your Website to Help Your Business Flourish
The first thing that you need to own if you are starting a business online is a website, and in order for your business to prosper, you need to attract as many customers as you can. If there is a huge traffic that goes to your website regularly, then you will have bigger chances of earning enormous profit. There are several ways on how you can create a profitable website and I will discuss them for you.
1. You should be more of a friend that an extremely persuasive salesman. Many people get irritated by people who are too persuasive, and so you should avoid being one in the contents of your messages. Rather than convincing them to buy your products or try your services, why not provide them with great information or advices that they may find very useful? In addition, it is better to send individual messages to particular persons so it would sound more like a personal message coming from a friend.
2. Offer freebies or giveaways to attract traffic. It is undeniable that most people are crazy over freebies. Oftentimes, people make purchases not because they like the products being offered, but they want to avail of the freebies. However, when offering promotions like this, you have to consider the cost of your freebies. Make sure that you still gain enough profit.
3 Great Backlinking Strategies
When it comes to backlinking it is important that you have a strategy in place. This is because it is all too easy to get caught up in looking around, plodding through articles rather than doing what you should be doing – creating backlinks!
A strategy means that you can focus on what you should be doing, and do it again and again rather than trying to reinvent the wheel each time you need to create some backlinks. But what strategies work?
Whilst these techniques are hardly new they ARE powerful – and it is important that you include them in your efforts. It is amazing how many people know them but don’t do them.
3 Great Backlinking Strategies
- Blog commenting. Despite it being so common to know about blog commenting for backlinks it is still only really done by spam bots. Better to use automated tools to find you blogs in your niche with high PR inner pages and hand place the comment…better chance it will stick, better quality of link and more likely to get you traffic too.It is still possible to use tools to find dofollow comments that can pass on some very useful link juice.
- Profile creation. More controversial this one. Involves the creation of profiles on forums and then using the software to create some links back to your site – usually takign advantage of HTML/BBC coding in ‘about me’ sections.
How to do Article Marketing ?
Article marketing is easy right. You just knock a few words together, post it up on a directory like Ezine articles and enjoy the backlink and traffic that it brings. Well sort of. Ok, not at all.
There is actually a lot more to article marketing than many people think – and if you want to make a success of it then it is important that you know what you are doing and plan to succeed with it.
How to do Article Marketing – the Right Way
- Look for alternative places for your article. Google only gives so much trust to the likes of EZA or GoArticles. Try looking to guest post on trusted and established blogs – giving you access to targeted traffic and more contextual links.
- Do your keyword research. I can not stress this enough. To get traffic you need to be able to found in the search engines, and to do that you need to be able to rank for a keyword that is getting traffic. So look for what the search numbers are in Google’s keyword tool, look at the SEO of the competition etc.
Web Design: Its Importance to the Success of a Website
The success of a website is highly influenced by its web design. The presence of a well-planned web design will make an entire website appealing to web users. Whether you are a sole proprietor or if you own a company, there is no difference as you still need a web design just the same to help your business grow further.
Web pages that are filled with plain text are not at all appealing to readers no matter how good the contents are because it implies boredom. When creating a website, the web developer needs to make use of techniques that can effectively attract web users and make them visit your site regularly. This will only be possible if you have a well-known, smart and very attractive website.
One of the major elements that must be included in your web design is flash. Flash can help you attain a lively and interactive website, which is usually what web users are looking for. Seldom do web users choose to visit websites that are just merely feeding its readers with information and not giving them a chance to comment of the contents. Using flash is, in other words, a way to avoid creating traditional websites.
How to Develop Your Website
A very tight competition is extremely evident among website owners. Most website owners have their own web design platforms to get ahead of competition. They each come up with unique ways to get the interest of as many web users as they can. Huge amount of effort, time and resources are invested to be able to reach the peak of the ladder of success.
Even before planning to build your website, you should already know the important features that your website must possess. This way, you would already know exactly how to come up with a website plan and how you are going to implement it. Without further ado, here are the several steps involved in developing a website:
- Create pages that can help you introduce your business. These pages include the Home Page, Privacy Policy Page and the About Us Page.
The Home Page consists of information about the products or services that you are trying to offer on your website.
Next is the Privacy Policy Page. This feature is very common on almost all websites. This page exhibits the terms and conditions of your business and also the privacy plans that you’ll be providing your potential customers.
Lastly, the About Us Page shows the major tools that may be found on your website.
- Choose a theme. Think of a theme for your website that is relevant to your niche. Choose a design that you think is interesting to your target market.
A Brief Look At Unlimited Hosting
An unlimited web hosting plan is a plan that offers infinite resources like bandwidth, disk space, domain, and many other things. If you avail of such a plan, the amount of bandwidth that you will be consuming will not be monitored by your web host provider. This means that you can consume all the amount of bandwidth you can get within a month without someone giving you limitations. However, this is not really the case, but let me tackle this issue later in this article.
You will get to see how much you’ve bandwidth you have consumed once you login to your cPanel account. On the left sidebar, you will see a detailed info regarding your consumption. This will show the number domains and sub-domains as well as emails and ftp accounts you’ve created and the amount of disk space and bandwidth you have consumed.
